Amid the ongoing pandemic this year, Thanksgiving is still scheduled like any holiday this year and all families can use these 5 unique Thanksgiving ideas. This year’s celebrations will be a little different than what we are used to. But the important thing is to create memories with your family and friends.
Given the different circumstances surrounding the fall holidays this year, I previously shared ways to make this year’s Thanksgiving celebration extra special. Start by incorporating pumpkins into your table as seen in my post. You can pick pumpkins fresh from the farm or buy them. decorative pieces like this white pumpkin piece of Aim and this pair of Walmart. You can also collect festive table companions, napkins and crockery. To set the mood, don’t forget to add candles and good music.
5 Unique Thanksgiving Ideas to Try This Year
- Thanksgiving Gratitude Jar: With how crazy the year has been, it’s important to reflect and appreciate the little things. Have your friends and family write down what they are grateful for this year and put it in a jar. These notes can be shared throughout the day as you celebrate. I did something similar a few years ago here.
- Cake Eating Challenge: Bake your favorite cake among your friends and family and host a timed eating contest in person or via Zoom to see who will win.
- ornament decoration: Get a simple ornament and have your friends and family get creative and decorate theirs.
- Charade Games: This is by far one of my favorite games for planning any event. It’s a great way to get everyone involved and laugh.
- Involve children: Play board games with the kids and, even more fun, ask them to help you serve desserts. Anything with sprinkles and syrups gets kids excited.
