Long time student of horror Greg Nicoteroof The Walking Dead and A horror show fame, has found his next project to tackle: a television adaptation of Robert McCammon’s film. swan song.
By DeadlineNicotero will executive produce the upcoming series through his production company Monster Agency. He will also be tapped to direct the pilot episode, which is currently seeking a writer. In a press release for the program, Nicotero called it a “[perfect] It’s time to enter this world. [McCammon’s] The story of survival in a world forever changed by political mistrust and international intrigue intertwined with a supernatural force has always been one of my favorites.”
Published in June 1987, swan song It was developed in the United States after a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. The book then focuses on a series of survivors, one of whom has powers that put her in the crosshairs of an evil that is building an army of followers across the country. After its release, it tied with Stephen King. Misery for the 1987 Bram Stoker Prize and was McCammon’s first work to appear on the New York Times bestseller list.
In that same statement, Steve Barnett, Alan Powell and Vicky Patel, who are co-executive producers through their company Monarch Media, called McCammon’s novel “incredibly compelling and unlike anything we’ve seen before on film or television. We are so excited to bring this world to life and can’t imagine better partners for the series than Greg and Brian. [Witten].”
At the time of writing, it is unclear whether the swan song will go to AMC, which has hosted Nicotero’s television projects for more than a decade and already has experience with adapting horror novels-or somewhere else.
